Default Loud air escaping noise

I drove my 350ZR for the first time yesterday(Winter Storage) in a climate controlled garage . I was only driving about 25 miles per hour in my Subdivision , when all of the sudden it made this very loud air escaping sound . It sounded like opening a valve on an air compressor with 100 psi of air pressure . Sounded like it was in the engine compartment and lasted about 5 seconds . I can not get it to do this while sitting still , only when driving . If this has happened to anyone else , please let me know what the heck it is .

You got a turbo kit installed with a BOV that no body told you about?

Seriously though, thats werid... anything feel wrong with the car while or after this happened? Does it idle inconsistently now? I would say a vacume hose came off but it wouldn't make that extreme of a noise like a air compressor coming off with compression behind it. In fact you might not even notice a sound at all depending on how hard you were pushing the motor at the time. Only thing else I could think of would be a radiator leak or crack but that would be like a high pitched whinning noise like steam coming out of a tea pot.

Let us know more details as to what happened, have you looked under the hood and checked your hoses and for anything that doesnt look right?

I am only going 25 miles per hour in second or third gear when it happens . I do know what a BOV sounds like , After all I've put 7000 miles on the car since I've owned it . This is not the BOV . This is tens times louder and lasts for 5 to 7 seconds . The BOV releasing pressure when the throttle closes lasts for a split second .

If an air conditioner hose broke, all of the R134A would escape in a loud whoosh. It is under very high pressure. Don't ask how I know that....................

I just found this off another Nissan forum . This is exactly what mine is doing , this guys car is a 2009 sentra .

When my wife was city driving at a low speed there was a loud (air escaping noise) emulating from the dash area. She pulled over into a parking area and shut the engine off. She got out of the car and walked around checking the tires and a general look. Upon restarting the car the sound wasn't there. She explained this to the dealer thinking it have been an airbag leaking. The dealer seemed to ignore this and checked the airconditioner out. The outside temp was 10c and of course the airconditioner wasn't on. He found nothing and sent her on her way. Any ideas what the (air escape noise) was? Also, where can I find more information on the airbag system, particularly the bottles or cartrideges?

Exactly , and there would be R134a all over the place . Not a drop anywhere . And if that was the case , it wouldn't be doing it everytime you drive the car , because there would'nt be any refrigerant left in the system .

BTW, the airbag system doesn't have any "bottles or cartridges". Airbags contain a small amount of sodium azide, which is ignited by an electrical charge to inflate them.

R134a is a gas when it's not under pressure, so there wouldn't be a trace. There might be some oil, though.

I think something may have stopped up your exhaust system, and the BOV is opening every so often to relieve the pressure. My wife's Escort made a noise like that when the insides of the muffler collapsed. Maybe some animal built a nest while the car was in storage.
