When you say you turned the heat off, do you mean turned the temp down or turned the HVAC system off? Reason I ask is because if defrost was on, (either through AUTO or Manual), the AC compressor can be cycled. And the popoff on the compressor will only open for seconds at high pressure - so untill the problem (overcharge or restriction) is gone, it can do this quite a few times before there is no R134 to vent. Still, it is a weird one..... not feeling real confident in what I am saying here. When and if, let us know!

Curious question, do you have any aftermarket body parts?

I read of a similar problem on nissanclub_com. It relates to the possible AC problem. Granted this problem was on an Altima and not a 350z. But maybe it'll help.

you can see the little tube that inflates the air bags and I think that would be a little hard to rupture since its made out of metal, but who know maybe it did. How loud was the noise? Like when you use a can of compressed air or louder?

It made the noise with the heat on , and then with the heat all the way off .

No aftermarket body parts . I posted the Altima problem on page 2 I believe . That sounds like the same problem I'm having . I will figure it out ,but until then it's driving me crazy .

The reason I asked about body parts is I had a similar noise in my Z. My issue was there was a small gap by the headlights of my after market bumper. My noise was very loud as well.
