Default Need help deciding on clutch/flywheel setup

I need to replace my OEM clutch very soon and was wondering if you guys could provide some input.

I am looking at two combo packages from TH Motorsports:

1. Exedy OEM clutch/ ACT Streetlite flywheel , $625

2. ACT clutch and Streetlite flywheel, $899

My car will never be boosted and it is a lightly modded 2005 DD (test pipes, exhaust, intake, coilovers). I am looking for universal basic setup for occasional track day, drift session or canyon run.

Do you think it is worth to spend extra $275 for option #2?

thanks,

id stick to your OEM flywheel and simply get another OEM clutch...you really have no practical need for anything more given your uses/plans

I think you will be happy with either. If the photos that I find are accurate both appear "street friendly."

photo's have nothing to do with whether a clutch/flywheel combo is street friendly, or not street friendly

Why would you advise someone this? I have seen multiple (including my own) Flywheels come apart due to the dual mass design. Nothing worse than doing/paying for all that labor to install a new clutch and soon after the flywheel comes apart and have to redo

OP i personally have the JWT Clutch/Flywheel and i love it, but i have installed ~5 Z1 Motorsports clutch/flywheel combos and they feel nearly identical to my JWT, all the owners have been very pleased with them.

Thanks for input, I have preety much decided on the flywheel and Streetlite seems to be the best option there (limited chatter). The real question is if the ACT clutch is worth spending $275 over the Exedy OEM spec...

your car being a twin turbo and his car having basic bolt ons with 0 plans for FI down the road by his own admission, are 2 completely different animals, and completely unrelated to one another

to say the ACT has no chatter is incorrect. I'm a HUGE ACT fan, have been using and offering their products for these cars since day 1, but every single lightweight flywheel for this car makes noise to one degree or another. Single piece units, like the ACT, do make a bit less than the multipiece units (like Fidanza/JWT) but they all will exhibit noise

My car has only been TT for 6months, my OE flywheel came apart after 60k miles driven by an old man in bone stock form. I bought the car with a bad flywheel, installed the JWT Combo, went through all the NA boltons then Boost, so power wasn't the issue in the failing OE Flywheel.

It is a common issue in many vehicles, some heavy duty trucks come with dual mass flywheels that also come apart.

But really... what fun is stock?
I like my JWT, and it holds my power, so stock is no issue for it.

it very well may be a common issue in other vehicles but yours is literally the 1st I've ever heard of it on this vehicle.
