Requires quite a bit. Some trimming to the gauge face, some trimming to the back side of the OEM bezel and some trimming to the stock circuit board plastic mounting piece. Takes about an hour or two to correctly.

I spoke to Rich from WC cylinder heads, my heads are being worked and should be done in 8 days..
Awesome guy to work with. I gave em my goal and the list of mods and we went over the best parts. got the complete head package. I upgraded some more internals as well.. apr heads studs etc..
heres a short list of what i remember :
brand new SB gen.4 L92/ls3 head casting
REV L92 intake valve 2.165
REV ls3/l92 stainless steel exh.val. 1.600x4.930
PEP dual spring w/ titanium retainers
Rock arm stand
ARP pro head series stud kit
ARP cam bolts
CHE precision LS3 rock arm set ( these were 650 alone! for high reving )
CNC stage2.5 porting
street strip 8cyl valve job
I dont remember the cam specs
these are fully assembled.
We talked alot about drivability and he gave me a cam thats not too extreme but not too soft either, so we settled in between. it'll start to make power around 2800 and hold it all the way 6900... with my valve train and high reving bearings as well as the fast, I wanna rev to at least 7-7500K . We will see when tuned.
He said that these were the best street extreme cam. too extreme and it would suffer at idle, and drivability. Ill get the specs when he sends me it

The cams available for LS2/LS3/LS6/LS7/LS9 are tunable in a sense that they will still hold idle to a certain degree. It all depends on what you're building that engine for. If you're building it to create as much power as possible, high lift low lsa LG and England green makes a great cam.

800 labor
??? extra parts?
So just for the basics to get engine in the car and do all the work yourself would be at least 9k. right? This is sounding a lot more expensive than when we talked last.

$9k if your lucky. Even doing all the labor yourself.

No way you can do it that cheap unless you come across some killer deals and even then you'd be hard pressed. Best estimate is $12-15k

Jeff, ur doing the prices from scratch. Don't forget I had a turbo kit , engine, tranny, clutch etc etc.
So for me it's not 10k , bc that stuff is funding my project, that's money already wasted..
To get a turbo set up on a STOCK block running right is about 10 k... N then to built the block to hold 500+.. $$$$. Now that's a waste lol.
The pros out run the cons IMO . Which is why I went this route.

Jeff, ur doing the prices from scratch. Don't forget I had a turbo kit , engine, tranny, clutch etc etc.

500 misc ls1 parts/pieces/ecm/tach
350 clutch/flywheel
2100 built t56
400 rad/fans
1000 gtk1000 turbo
estimate $300 on exhaust routing, etc
250 intercooler
100 valve covers
450 manifold/fuel rails
450 injectors + box
used bov, wideband, boost, and ebc from my previous setup
and im probably forgetting something
not to mention i still need more misc parts here and there, crank damper, hp tuners and a tune. it adds up quick, and i got a somewhat decent price on all this stuff

I was just curious about this prices because when i talked to vas a few months ago it sounded like this would only cost a little over 7k total. It sounded way more than that when i heard the parts list though.
I'm not arguing built block/turbo verses v8 i was just curious what this setup really costs.....personaly it doesn't matter because i'll be pulling 700hp with my own setup

lol, i'm going through hell right now trying to decide what to do. I want to save money but it looks like sending the stock block in that i have to be built fresh would be better than refreshing my build block. Sucks though

Agreed. If you have ever taken the heads off of a VQ then you understand why this is a huge benefit. With items like the Edelbrock split front timing chain cover for the LS motors you can even do cam swaps with very little disassembly of the motor.
