I was investigating why my 02 maxima is consuming oil at 1Qt/1000 miles and came upon this. My Z consumes oil as well, at about 1 Qt/3000 miles.

Pretty interesting. I will try this out when it gets warm. I believe it to be true, since I find oil piling up in my Z's manifold as well.

 

Updates are interesting. 1 quart oil/1,684 miles is acceptable!

Ill be swapping put the rocker cover and the rear main seal. 1Q/1000 is not acceptable..

 

I thought Nissan's threshold for consumption was 1qt/1000 miles. Per 3000 isn't bad at all by that standard.

 

In comparison to other motors ive worked on, mostly honda 4cyl in DD cars, the Z and maxima burn a lot of oil. My Z will burn a quart on just easy driving.

Ill report back once I get a chance to open up the rocker covers.
