Default Engine response question.. Lagging

Hey everyone.. I'm getting a little worried, I have an 05 automatic enthusiast and when my Z comes to a complete stop, and I push the gas the engine takes a second to kick it and especially when im turning there is a bit of "jump" when i hit the gas in first gear between 5-10mph when I get above 15mph everything seems to be normal. but Im a little worried.. could it be spark plugs? transmission? pistons>? Im not really familiar... but any help would be nice. Also when I put it in reverse and i push the gas to reverse it is also laggy and when I floor it the rpms go up but the engine doesnt kick it until like 1-2 sec. later...

The Z is another drive by wire vehicle. It doesn't have a throttle cable. It has a computer telling it when you hit the gas. There will be a bit of a lag because it isn't hard wired.

But if the lag is more than would be normal, I'm guessing there are threads addressing it. This site is almost 10 years old.

now that thur made me chuckle. the gauge should come down to 30 psi when you're at 65 mph.

Its because the sensor is not plugged in.. I plan on replacing it but could that be why the engine is less responsive?

I dunno about anyone else, but when I hit the gas my engine revs.

As was mentioned previously: searching will most likely turn up usable results.

if the lag is enough to be noticed then there is something wrong. I had this issue back in the day with my Z. Turned out to be a knock senser problem. It was a hidden code so there were no check engine light. i drove around in limp mode for almost a year

sluggish vehicles could be from several issues:
1st Change out your bad sensor.
Reset ECU
http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm
Drive car for at least 20 miles
Check codes if CEL comes on.
Check tranny fluid level
Vacuum test the engine: idle, WOT, and under load

The vacuum test will give you a lot of information.

If the issue is not compression, air/fuel, or ignition related, it will be your tranny

I'm not sure what you mean. It sounds like the engine is revving up, but the car doesn't start accelerating immediately. If you're stopped, the transmission will already be in first gear, so the response should be very quick. If you're already in a higher gear, the lag is caused by the transmission having to downshift when you go WOT. Two seconds seems excessive, though.

Have you checked the transmission fluid level lately or ever had the fluid changed, etc?

I've never seen less than 60 psi oil pressure at or above 2000rpms. I've got about 30 at idle, unless I've been ******* it for a while in warm weather.
