Hitting the limiter is not damage inducing - having an arbitrarily high limiter can be. A revup may be able to deal with it for a while but it's not something I'd use as a long term solution. The limiter serves a real purpose. On an otherwise stock engine, it's not worth messing with it, unless you find yourself constantly bouncing off it at an event. For a street car, it's virtually useless altering it IMHO. Setting it to a more reasonable level (mine was at 7200 as I recall when my motor was stock...rarely went up there except during some track events) would be the way to go.
