Does it prolong the life of the clutch if you don't use the clutch to shift the gear into neutral while coming to a stop?
And by skipping gears while upshifting?

Clutchless shifts aren't good at all for your car. It's pretty much forcing it into gear imo. Even if you are a master at matching the rev's on the car, it will still put stress and wear on your gearbox. It's like why would the Z have a clutch if you weren't going to use it?
That's what an auto is for, but skipping gears is fine as long as your not lugging the motor down. Sometimes I go through 1-4 gears then skip fifth and slot it into 6th. Hope that helps and if you want to try it, it's your car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLw0hAtOik4

The best trick is to only push the clutch pedal in half way when shifting. That way the clutch never has to fully dis-engage and engage again. Dont worry about any smells, it's completely normal. If the smell gets too bad, rev it up a bit during shifts to clean the disc mating surface.Although this technique is reserved for the elite JDM drivers, so your not allowed to use it.

Skipping shifts will prolong the life of a clutch, i typically use 1-2-4-6 on the street, but it is not enough to really matter. The best way to prolong your clutch is, properly knowing how to drive, rev matched up and downshifts , and not doing drag launches.

so your not putting pressure on your clutch master cylinder for the whole time your at the stop light and so your clutch can cool down while it free spins with the tranny rather than the tranny sitting still and the clutch spinning on it.
Why would you guys stay in gear at a light? Holding the clutch in just puts more pressure on the throw out bearing. So at seriously long lights like we have around here, you guys would sit there in gear with the clutch in for 2-4 minutes?
Thanks for the answers guys.
I'm a little skeptical towards SSNOS's suggestion of pushing the clutch in only half way though, I'm pretty sure that wears the clutch out faster, I'm guessing he was being sarcastic because I'm a noob.
Anyway, my conclusion: Clutch only wears when shifting into gear but not out of it (thanks pcressy). And skipping gears actually will prolong the life of the clutch (thanks terrasmak and Kcee91).
