OBD II Readers
I'm very interested in getting an OBD II reader.
The AutoTap and similar units that require using your PC or PDA are not for me.
In researching the handheld units I've found two that look pretty interesting.
1 - AutoXray EZ-Read 1000 - Best price so far is $140.00
2 - Equus OBD II Code Reader 3100S - Best price so far is $129.00
Does anyone have experience with these or similar units?

Consider the CarChip Ex from Davisnet.com. They sell for about $180. They are more expensive, but you get a nice boost with it. You plug the memory module into the OBDII port and leave it there. It then records everything it sees. Finally, you take it out when you are ready and plug it into a flash car reader hooked up to your PC. Using the software that comes with it, you can see a million different things about your car over time. A normal reader will only show you a snapshot of what is happening at the moment. I do not own this yet, but I do want it.

Is the CarChip E/X compatible? I don't see the Z (or G for that matter) listed on their compatability list.

350Z uses the new CAN Protocols, AutoXray 4000 has those protocols
and the scantool is designed for Asian & Euro cars. $299 with a google price search.
Any other scantool will only show you the standard messages and not all the CAN (ISO 11898/J2284, ISO 11992, J1939). Not all scantools are the same.
