Question Anyone With Transmission Coolers?!

Hey guys I own an 05 35th Anniversary 5AT <-Yes I know flame on lol. And this is my 2nd tranny replaced by Nissan. I want to extend the longevity of my newer tranny so I dont have to go through this **** again . Apart from keeping up with the fluid i obviously want to add a tranny cooler. I've done some searching but i dont have any definite answers to my question.

Does my Z have a factory cooler?
What is a good cooler that some of you guys have used?
HOW DO I INSTALL IT?

Maybe some of you gurus can help. Thanks guys for any input.

By factory cooler you mean the AT radiator?

If you burn your transmission again then buy mine:

^^^I'll even throw in a free trans cooler
Problem?

Are you boosted ? Do you track your car? The cooler is a simple/easy install, i do suggest getting a temp gauge and installing it at the same time, especially if you beat on your car.

Yes your car has one but it does not cool enough for the roadcourse. It in plumbed into the bottem of the radiator. All you do is pick the cooler you want, mount it , unplug the one line into the radiator , run the line to the new cooler, then run the out on the new cooler back to the radiator. Simple and easy.

No open holes, fluid will run from your trans to the radiator, radiator to the aftermarket cooler, then back to the trans.

I get you know man so I'll still need the A/T radiator for the first initial phase. I was under the notion that we deleted it completely. Thanks terrasmak

YOu can install a MT radiator,( koyo, mishimoto, Mizu ) and just bypass the radiator all together. Thats what most of the FI and track guys do.

Sounds crazy, but I think you just pull the line off while it's running to see which way it's flowing and quickly put it back on. (Wait for confirmation before trying this.)

The way mine is setup, if you look at the picture:
left hose is feed, right house is return. The reason I chose this method is because if the clock wise motion in the fluid.

I don't think it would matter, either way the cooler would cool down the fluid. If you criss cross your lines the cooler will still give you the same effect, but maybe the transmission will be affected?

Avatar is ****ing amazing.

Anyway, only the return and feed lines in and out of the tranny matter, a cooler should note if its flow specific

Exactly! The cooler should tell you if the flow of fluid is a specific direction, otherwise it shouldn't matter.

Her name is shay laren btw

tranny coolers, yeah...
shay laren, F*** YEAH.
I mean, im totally on topic here.

OP if you want ease of install, measure the ID (inner diameter) of the hose on the oem cooler and then find a cooler that uses that diameter fittings. Buy the same hose cut it to two hoses to be between 6-12 inches longer than oem ones (length will vary depending on where you want to mount the cooler). Then just swap the hoses, (ALL OF THIS ONLY AFTER DRAINING THE FLUID!) and have someone fab up some mounts and you are done. Hell if you are clever get some aluminum or sheet metal and ghetto fab your own mounts.
I'm to lazy to go look at what size the hose is, so you can do that yourself.
