Default My New cold air intake

I just made this, dual pressurized cold air feeds to the stock box. I will include a blast valve so i can shut down the intake during the rain. Unfortunetly my car z is now is storage. And when it comes out it will also have the Crawford plenum.

Car and driver tested 4 Z's. Three with F/I and one N/A. The JWT, stock exhaust N/A equipped car had the quickest 0 - 60 times. I haven't dynoed mine since installing it, but my traction problems in the 1/4 increased by quite a bit. There is no way i can run stock tires now and get a good time. That tells me that the JWT did something, because I was laying down very consistant times with the stock tires before.

Stay with the stock airbox. If you really want to waste some money, buy a "grounding " kit.

I like the design of the K&N Typhoon a lot.

It's got the filter and airbox and all in the stock location, but a small "snorkel" that goes down into the grill area and actually pics up fresh air that's filtered before it hits the car. Makes a lot more sense than the Injen setup in hindsight (they stick the filter down there too).

You could pretty easily put a bypass in it if you wanted as well, but with the near vertical "snorkel" I don't think that will be much of an issue.

Check it out:

Leave the stock airbox in there, it does its job efficiently. If you take the filter out and look inside, you will notice there are fins strategically placed inside to straighten the flow of air going into the intake. None of these aftermarket CAI's do that. You can try adding a ram to the airbox. You'll feel the difference.

Well, with all the input, I went with the JWT. Its inexpensive and worth a try. Thanks all. Three more mods to go this winter.
