Forget about swapping for another engine on that budget. I would recommend looking for a solid long or short block VQ, possibly from a junkyard or the classifieds here.

correct.. if youre on a budget of 5-6k total costs involved, your loking at a junkyard complete engine ( w all the gizmos still strapped to it) for 2k-2500 bucks w probably half the mileage you had on your 03-- you can get any DE engine from 2003-2005 car.

install will run roughyl the same, about 2500 bucks or around there. Youll be up and running in no time.

mine jsut died and a built motor and labor will run you 8k.. and add another 10k if you want to turbo it.
That should make you feel much better about getting back on the road for 5500 bucks.

I'm sure you don't need to spend any money to drop in the engine... Any one with tools and half a brain can do that.

another question is what kind of changes would need to be done in order to swap a 370 engine with a 350

A lot, but a bit less if you start with an 07 or 08.

your best, most direct bet is getting an engine from a 2003-2004 model, or a 2005 so long as it did not come out of a track edition (as those are revups).

in other words, you need a 2003-2005 non revup engine

you can forget about swapping in a 370z engine or HR engine, it will cost a fortune

these cars are like bellybuttons at this point. Call any local junkyard, look on your local forums, find a place that sells used engines with warranty, and you'll have a huge choice of engines to choose from. I'd bet if you spent a week searching, you could find one from an 03, that was built in the same month your car is, and probably came out of the same color Z you had....that's how abundant they are
