In a couple of months, my clutch will probably be fried
it's slipping now sometimes.
When im in the market for clutch and flywheel, i'm thinking about lightest ones out there. Looking at under $600 for clutch kit and flywheel.
ACT prolight is slightly lighter than JWT flywheel. Is there one lighter and stronger than ACT prolight? i heard competition clutch is the LIGHTEST one out there but can't find the exact weight.
The car is used for DD, autox and drift. I wish there's one close to Tilton which weighs like 8lbs. (sucks it's out of market now)
Light flywheel (under 13 lbs) AND clutch with smaller in diameter than stock would be really nice.

haha.
Irvine's the Shiz btw.. i want to transfer my job there.. jsut far enuff away from the beach and the lame north traffic.

i always thought that stock ones rev up really slow and not instantaneous.
The way I understand it is that DM flywheel rev slower, but are easier to get going in 1st due to the intertia. The lighter you go, the more reving is required at start. Not that it's necessarily a problem, but it might be an inconvenience you may not want, especially if you're looking for the lightest possible flywheel. My suggestion is try a heavier lightweight
, since it'll be a DD. Good luck with your decision.

i understand that i have to rev higher to start moving. i usually rev at 1500 RPM or under to get it moving lol. it's something i gotta change.
what do you mean by heavier lightweight? i'm more looking for super light lightweight flywheel haha

the flywheel also keeps the car running and firing plugs.
The only real benefit of the super light flywheels are for making cool youtube videos that make your Z sound like a GSX-R.
Imagine a small motor cranking a bike pedal around smoothly with the bike on its side... and that bike has a card in its spokes.. think of the sound. Steady, monotone etc...
Imagine the sound of someone cranking that bike pedal by hand... its not linear, it has more ups n downs. Its jerky.
Thats how your car will run with a ultralightweight flywheel.
You have to rev it high, then expect it to drop very fast as well almost bogging. If you daily drive, you will absolutley hate yourself. And youl burn clutches w it. it wont hold heat as well either.
You want it heavy enuff to allow the car to run smoothly, but light enough to allow better power xfer to the driveline..
what the other guy meant is you really WANT a heavier lightweight flyweel like a southbend or a JWT.
Anything that isnt stock, heavy or not.. will chatter. (Noise)

thanks for your replies. i could maybe go JWT if it was little cheaper.. and i don't like the fact that everyone is using JWT combo lol. i always seek for something different
1 lbs or 2lbs lighter than JWT lightweight flywheel would work. Maybe little smaller in diameter along with the clutch kit. heard cerametallic is indestructible
gotta have this chit

This could get really annoying, imo!
Then again I do love the sound and response to a fast revving motor
Just get a full JWT combo , works great for street and track . Also the flywheel has an easily swappable plate on it for when you fry the clutch. I'm not a drifter, but track my car. I have almost 100k on my JWT and its slowly giving up.
that is really a stupid reason to not want something mechanical. aesthetics, sure, be different, but if something works, and works well, and everyone uses it, who cares? no ones going to know what clutch or flywheel you are running but you.
I wonder who you're talking to that is giving you all this priceless info, such as comp. clutch's flywheel being the lightest, or that cerametallic being indestructible
what you want, at your intended price, doesn't exist, unless you're buying used parts

you prolly can't
Those priceless info were somewhere in this forum lol
which clutch & flywheel would you recommend that are slightly lighter than durable than JWT combo?
