NEWBIE Qustion...
Why not just answer the question? You took time to answer this post, you might as well give me an answer. No need to pull that DO A SEARCH NEWBIE BS. I need a quick answer, maybe because I DIDN'T HAVE TIME to search, hence the title "Quick Q". I really don't have time to read. But hey, thanks for the link.
I hope this community can do better than that.

It is quicker to search than it is to create a post much less wait for a response. It also helps keep the clutter off the already cluttered boards. Redundancy has no place in modern America. Do a search. It requires less typing on your part and gives you all the answers at once rather than waiting for them to trickle in slowly. Good luck with your search on a topic that is talked about by everyone so much that their grandmothers now speak about it while knitting with their old friends. In fact, just the other day, MY grandmother, who has a 1.8T conincidently, asked me if I was going to get a CAI for my Z and asked if I had heard that they aren't worth it and produce no measurable consistent and widespread obvious gains. Good luck with your search newbie.

Thanks.

I had the Injen because it initially made the most HP......the ECM will change the AF to eventually take some of that HP out again.....a CEL will occur if oil from the filter, installers fingers, or other debris manage to get on the MAF sensor

Reason why I didn't answer is because it was just asked 2 times this week, searching for it is quicker than waiting for a repsonse. Plus it has more insights than I can post.
BTW, post title says "NEWBIE Qustion..."

Well, the reason why I should use the search is mainly to save bandwith. Yet there is the need to keep posting about my "newbieness" and how quick I will be gone, which has nothing to do with the question. Double standard anyone? (besides this post)
In any case, I could care less about "when I will be gone"
. I've been here for about 6 months, and do not post very often. And I do use the search once in a while. I just feel better when I'm chating with real pepole instead of some archived threads... (not that I'm here to chat).
Anyways, thanks elektrik_juggernaut for the response. I'll look into the Injen. Gotta forgive me, I know little about 350Z's. My specialty is VW's 1.8T, in which my grandmother can jump in and smoke a 350Z...

If you have been here for six months what exactly have you been doing? In the past six months there have been 121 posts about CAIs' . You should have read them. You probably could have answered your own question.
Why don't you guys lay off 1.8T? So he asked a question that has been asked before, don't tar and feather him!
I have the Injen CAI, I like it because you can either have the filter in the bumper or have the filter near the stock filter location. However the filter it exposed when in the full length configuration. As for gains I'm not sure, there is some question about gains with CAI's and the ECU negating gains over time. I personally haven't dynoed my car.
edit: I've never had a SES light with the CAI in either configuration. Only after I had the test pipes put in did I have a SES light.

Thanks for the support. But I have decided to go with a K&N air-filter, which I only paid $9 for it,
so I can't complain.
I'm not going to say I'm a walking dyno, but I can definetly feel an improvement. It may not be huge, but I'm guessing 3 or 4 whp. Since the stock airbox seems pretty well designed, I'm sticking to the K&N filter.
ps: the sound also slightly increased. Mostly noticable inside, with the windows closed.

You scientifically cannot feel a 1.2 percent horsepower increase. And if you are hearing a difference you are NUTS!!! I have the K&N filter. You cannot hear a difference with the SAME airbox and a different filter. No offense dude but that's loony.
No offense, but you're pretty stupid.
Ever since I posted here, you have nothing but put me down. I guess I shouldn't expect any better from you. And since you are the bible, everything you say must be right. You are never wrong. I guess I'm wrong, I didn't gain any power. And my ears are way too sensitive too hear such change in my own car. Maybe I'm not even human.
Thanks for your opinion. Move on.

Hey man, I don't know, maybe you offended me by something you said when you got here. Maybe it was a comment about your 1.8T motor. I have heard enough of that crap at vwvortex.com and could not stand any attitudes there. I really hope you don't bring that culture over here. It is nice here. You do say some pretty ridiculous things. I didn't say you didn't gain HP. I just said that if you gained 3 HP, which you said you did, you would not be able to feel it, which you said you can. Regarding your butt dyno and hearing the filter, the placebo effect is a REAL phenomenon. This is nothing more. You don't have to justify a 9 dollar purchase to me.
Truce. I will respect your posts more. Just stop being inane.
