Default Can a Clutch be installed with out a alignment tool?

Hey guys,
I have a 08 z, got all my stuff in for the clutch and flywheel, and I found out that act did not send a alignment tool. No one around here sells anything for z's and no word from act. Any help?

I have the one that came with my ACT HD & Streetlite. Assuming you are in AZ I'd lend it to you.

go to an auto parts store and see if you can borrow the tool out of one of the cheapo maxima/altima clutch kits.

yes it can be installed without an alignment too. in fact i've done more clutches without an alignment tool than with one. you just have to use your brain a little bit and get a good visual angle on it to line it up. it's not very hard. you might save yourself 5 minutes with an alignment tool, but not having one certainly isn't the end of the world. heck, you can make one with a socket (or some other cylindrical implement) and some tape if you really need to.

Also, perhaps leaving the transmission in gear (5th? 6th?) could allow you to slightly turn the output shaft to turn the input shaft?

The alignment tool is for ease of centering the disc under the pressure plate in the exact middle so the input shaft can pass all the way through and still line up properly. You can center it with a deep socket that has a taper on it, usually will center up with the pilot bushing close enough, while you bolt down the PP, so that the trans goes in easy. Turning the input shaft won't address the alignment problem that would result from not lining it up somehow, either with a tool or by hand.

Old cheapo trick - start with a wood dowel smaller than needed and wrap it with duct tape until it's the right shape and diameter. That's better than nothing to me.

I used a broom handle the last time I did a clutch, worked perfect!
