Default Pre-firewall, does it need it?

I've got my engine out for my lsx swap and looking for ways to offset the weight. I've heard people have removed the pre-firewall and can save pretty significant weight. I'm curious how much if any chassis stiffness is lost.

Thoughts?

Anyone on here done this?

PS sorry if this is the wrong section. I wasn't sure where chassis info should go.

What part of the front body are you talking about? Is it 66300 at the lower right?

I doubt there's much there that's not really necessary.

I am 100% sure that the part he is talking about is in the bottom right in that picture, I have seen it done for clearance issues and in the more race setups

It looks like that part reinforces the front side rails to prevent side-to-side movement.

I wouldn't be inclined to remove it without some putting in something to carry those loads.

With all the emphasis on lowering material cost, manufacturing cost, and weight, I doubt Nissan would put it there if it wasn't really needed. It's probably going to be needed even more when you drop in that LS.
