Default New 05 Z, knocking noise when I turn car off

Hi Guys.... I am new to the 350Z world. I bought a 2005 with 67k miles on it about a week ago.... the car runs good, I just have a few concerns. when I got home today pulled in the garage and shut the car off I heard a horrible knocking/rattling sound. I typed the symptom into multiple searches and didnt get much of an answer. I did however go out to the car and try to do it again. It did do it, however if I have the clutch pressed in all the way as I turn it off it dosen't make the noise or barely makes it, if the clutch is out it is loud as can be.... any ideas?? the only other concern I have is the clutch seems to release really high on the car. Is that normal for z's? it does grab well and shift well.... it also has a few mods done by previous owner..... Motordyne MREV/APS 2.5 Catback/Stillen CAI/Plenum Spacer/UpRev Tune. Thanks in advance for the help

Clutch chatter is pretty loud on the z, I would say its normal. But if it concerns you have it checked out.

mine has always made a similar noise when you turn the car off. one thing of note is that it doesn't do it when I press the clutch in. I have always been told that it is because of a poorly designed throwout bearing but I don't know how much truth there is to that explanation.

from what I understand it is pretty normal.

THIS... it sounds very odd when you shut the car off and it is normal. Almost sounds like it is winding down... loudly.

Sounds like a normal 350z tranny. It is very noisy and is particularly noticeable when the car is warm and you are next to something, like a toll booth or drive through (sound bounces back at you). When you depress the clutch, the tranny stops spinning, so noise goes away. Release the clutch in neutral and voila, the tranny spins and your noise comes back. The trannies had numerous tech bulletins and modification along the way to try to correct some of the issues early on. As a result of all the issues a new transmission is very reasonable from Nissan. Make sure your fluid level is correct, and if it is shifting normally, run the crap out it.
High release on the clutch is normal for this car in my opinion. Bought one this year with 9k miles on it and it seemed high to me as well, but runs fine.
