Default vq40 ecu same as vq35?

I am looking for a means of actuating my exhaust cutout at 4000 rpm. I called my UPREV tuner and he said the simple solution is if the intake runner control from the VQ40 is present in my ECU.

Anyone know if the ECUs are the same and if so what pin the runners are controlled from?

Could always use an msd window switch, but you'll need a tach signal box as well.

The problem with that is MSD just throws a negative and this cutout has a up/down toggle. It has three leads in addition to power/ground. I asked Pertronix, teh parent company of Doug's Headers and no response.
