Default '06 engine in '03, '04 or '05

Before you start complaining about how often this is asked, i did what research i could. The types of threads that were showing up were rediculous, and IMO, not worthy of being on this site. So after i was done seeing the "vette vs 350Z" threads and what the latest video games (really?) were out/favored, i deceided to open this thread.

The halfway decent threads NEVER came to a definitive answer. Plus i didn't want to get "flagged" for bumping an old thread.

So, here and now; i want to know; will an '06 engine plug-n-play with an '03-'05 (not getting the '06 ECU or wiring harness involved)? I understand the '07+ HR's will NOT work, but I'm not sure about the '06s.

If the '06's work, will i need the transmission as well, or can i use my current one? Will there be any benefits of getting an '06 transmission opposed to keeping the '03-'05?

What i gathered is that the "rev-up's" will not, but are the '06's not all rev-up? I was under the assumption that ALL '06's were of the rev-up type, but then again, nobody answered that definatively, either.

This will not only be helping me, but the whole Z/G community. I even tried to make sure the title was properly descriptive; not "06 in my Z" or some other vague title.

Thanks for any mature, informative answers.

Nathan

06 MT comes with a Rev-up , and will not work in your 03 to 05 without wiring, ECU and other things. The trans are all the same

THIS. You want a VQ35DE. I thought the Rev-UP would work, but you just can use the secondary cam sensors.

Cd008 vs Cd009. Rev Up engines came with a better tranny I believe.

Motor would work if you block off the 2 extra cam sensors and don't run the vtc sensors. If you do run revup you'd need ecu, harness, all extra sensors and a key reprogramming for the new ecu. Ecu has to match key and steering column (been this route)

So, in conclusion: Block off the Cam Sensors and i'm good? I didn't understand the "If you do run revup..." part.

Upon Inspection, I don't think i have the cam sensors, unless i'm looking on the wrong side:

1 more final opinion?

If it is, yay me. I'm using it as a core, anyway.

100% that is a DE not a RevUp. It should be fine as a core, just have your machine shop inspect the crank and piston walls which I am sure they would do anyway.

It sat in an enclosed junkyard warehouse for at least 5 years. The car had 37,000 miles on it, which isn't bad.
