Short shifter cup install help

Default Short shifter cup install help

So i am in the process of installing a short shifter in my car and i purchased a new shift cup. I cant seem to get the damn thing on. Im pressing as hard as i can and its all greased up too but it just wont go in. Anyone have any tips on how to install this thing?

i did this a long time ago but i think I did it like this.

I had a GOOD friend hold the shifter straight up with the **** end pointing into the ground.

Then used a small plank and set in on top (end now facing up towards linkage point) then I stood on the plank and it forced the cup on.

I think the preferred method is use a table vice to hold the shifter then take a rubber mallet to the cup to force it down. Bottom line you will need a lot of force to get it on there.
