None are out yet....why do you feel you even need one? Have you seen the inner diamter of the stock unit.......its more than enough for any sort of realistic power goals.

Easy enough to make though.

Where would you add the additional injector? I would think that the best bet would be either replace the OEM injectors with larger injectors, modify the amount of fuel the OEM injectors spray or add the new injectors somewhere upstream in the manifold. Are the stock injectors at 100% duty cycle under boost?

Well if you ask the guys at ATI they can handle more but I think not....The reason not to go with bigger injectors is I dont want to affect the idle of the vehicle and have to get reflashed for them..I have to see how the piggyback i plan on using will work as far as trimming the pulse on a larger injector...

I don't mean to sounds like an *** but...
Have you bumped your head?
The ID of the stock fuel rail is about the diameter of a #2 pencil lead. Even @ the increased fuel pressure the stock rail is going to be an restriction in the very near future for the FI guys.

I have talked w/ a few companies about building fuel rails, but w/ my background as a M.E. and machinist I'm contemplating producing them myself.

How much interest would there be in an fuel rail upgrade?

Why bother w/ 12 injectors? Just run 6 injectors of the correct size and a good standalone to manage it. We run 2 street cars w/ Bosch 120lb/hr injectors and Autronic. No idle or drivability problems.

It seems like there is enough interest for me to get off my rear and start prototyping.

Would you guys and girls like just a bolt in fuel rail or a complete fuel system upgrade? The stock pump is going to become a problem very soon for a couple of you.

I'm interested. I would say go with a complete fuel system, that way we wont have to deal with replacing the stock fuel pump if we get power hungry.

Additional injectors would require additional holes into the lower intake manifold, right?

All these options.............one minute i'm keeping the Aeremotive FMU then next minute there is something better.............

Is there any consensus on:

1. Keeping it simple - even up to 600hp applications

2. Keeping the cost within reason - this stuff is expensive
enough already(this may be the same as # 1....lol)

3. What about stock ecu functions (A/C etc) if standalone units
are used........or are we almost stuck w/ a piggyback or reflash

These are prob rhetorical questions with a million opinions, but every website I read has tons of good stuff to say about their own ingintion sys, fuel sys, monitoring sys, whatever........so maybe some with experience can assist those moving ahead with new motors.

Thanks

Robin

edit: not to hijack the thread, we can just talk about fuel systems if you want!!

to keep the stock ecu functions for cold start, idle up, etc, you would wire the standalone in parallel with the factory ecu. In theory it shoudl work fine on the Z, as it ahs worked on countless other cars....will not know for usre till I try it next year.

As for additional injectors from a single rail, how would you do this? As mentioned above, you would need additional mounting bosses in your heads. Fitting bigger injectors is really not a big deal at all, especially if you have a form of auxiliary fuel control. Idle is really the least of your probelsm, as the injector is barely opened at idle in the first place, though it will obviously depend on how big of an injector you intend to fit.

I'll go measure the stock fuel rail diameter tomorrow

I am just interested in an AEM type fuel rail only. Different colors would be cool. Does ours show?
