Default question about crank pulley?

this question is aimed to anyone who has installed an unorthodox crank pulley themselves. the instruction say to tighten to a specific torque (28 to 32 footpounds if i remember correctly) and then mark the crankbolt and pulley. then turn the bolt till the line before the mark you made lines up with the mark on the pulley. this is where i become an idiot. do they mean the line right or left of the mark you made. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a simple diagram that should explain the process.

The final torque depends on the thread pitch, etc. I didn't use a deflection style torque wrench to do the final 60 degree, so I can't say.
