The prices for used HRs are starting to be around the same price as used VQ35DEs. If it wasn't for the economy being soo bad the prices would be even lower.

After that we need to acquire the VQ37VHR harness and ECU, upper plenum, lower plenum, and throttle bodies, etc... We can wire it up and make all the factory gauges work.
I know this for a fact because I purchased the VQ38 block for my 04 350Z and am building it as we speak!
this is good ****, i think it would be better to stick with putting the NON-VVEL heads off of an HR onto the VR38 block. since the VQ35HR and VQ37VHR block is the exact same there shouldnt be fitment issues. the GTR doesnt even have VVEL so just do away with that garbage lol. the VQ35HR and VQ37VHR blocks dont seem much different from the VR38 (except for the deck on the VR) judging by all the pics.

"However I don’t recommend you run it for too long without changing the bearings. If you don’t want to change the bearings, make sure you pop the oil pan, clean out the oil pickup, and change oil every 1000 miles"

This may be a stupid question but if you take an 03 350z and drop in a non-DE engine (HR,VHR), wouldn't that also change the header/exhaust requirements? And if this is the case is the undercarriage mounting points and piping routes different too? I would guess that you'd need to make a custom exhaust or at least a y-pipe modification, yes? I'm suddenly interest in this as my 03 is nearing 100,000 and I just paid it off.

Is the drive shaft different between the 2003-2006 350z and the 2007+ HR 350z?
