Just feel it out...happens sometimes...strong cars..but nissan tranny isn't smooth like honda is...until your at speed....i have 6,spd..sometimes 5th just barely catches alittle...not often...but its working fine...so most likely human error...imo

Try not to do it again? You probably haven't done any harm so don't worry about it. If you're overly paranoid though you could always change your transmission fluid and send a sample out for analysis. Since this is a used car I would recommend you do change the fluid anyways. I wouldn't send that out for analysis though unless it feels like you have a problem.

Slow your shift down , you can and will destroy the trans. The Z does not like to get shifted like a Honda

1-2 has always been more difficult for me when speed shifting. Be careful on this shift with your foot/hand timing. 2-3, 3-4 are always smooth/fast, with 4-5 a little catchy and 5-6 smooth again.

what year? early z's without the cd009 were notorious for synchro issues. it is also a very notchy shifter by nature
