Unhappy Accidentally Grinding Gears?

Hi all! Sorry for the stupid question but this is my first manual transmission car and I'm a bit worried. Twice since I got the car I tried to put the car into reverse without the clutch accidentally (I just wasn't thinking). Anyways the shifter wouldn't go into gear (reverse) and then I realized the clutch wasn't in. I didn't hear any grinding or feel any vibration from inside the car on from the shift ****. so my question is - Did I grind my gears? Thanks!

Sounds like the car is fine. You'll know if you grind the gears... just pay a little more attention when putting the car in gear.

you'll be fine keep practicing. gear grinding has a really high pitched distinct sound kinda like nails on a chalkboard.

*insert Peter Griffin "You know what really grinds my gears? People who don't push the clutch in all the time when shifting into gear". Hahahaha jp. OP, when I first got my Z I would put it in neutral at stoplights and let out the clutch, causing me to random Rev my engine. Good practice is to always push in the clutch no matter what. Its perfect for stopping at a stoplight, or if a car pulls out in front of you you alredy have the reaction to clutch, and possibly downshift to romp around that tard.

Don't worry about it, just don't make it a habit.
