Another Nismo GT Pro noise thread
I've searched a lot on here, google, even for limited slip noises in general and can't really answer my question. I really don't mind the cracking and popping, just the low hum it makes at all speeds.
I bought a used pumpkin with the unit already installed. after popping the cover I didn't notice any abnormal ring and pinion wear or excessive metal on the drain plug.
I have solid diff bushings and polyurethane subframe bushings installed with this as well so I know there will be noise, but am not sure if it should be this noisy.

If this is completely normal, fine. Live and learn I guess, but if not, could it be the carrier bearings? There's no play in the pinion, but I did notice a little extra metal shavings on the plug last time, but the fluid still came out perfect along with what i could see of the gears.
Thank you for your help.

The Nismo LSD is the loudest out of any LSD I have ever heard. Mine is at full lockup and it creaks, bangs, pops, and whines no matter what I do. A simple U-turn sounds like the whole axle is falling out. It is completely normal. There are some additives you could use but so what....it will never be silent.
Figured I'd update you guys on what I found. Finally decided to tear the diff down. Found that the ring gear side carrier bearing was pitted and making a good bit of noise, but luckily I already have a set at the house. Also noticed that the pinion feels very slightly notchy when turning it by hand, so I'm just going to go ahead and replace those bearings too.
One question I do have though, is the spacer housing a crush sleeve or just a solid piece? I'm getting ready to order the parts sometime this week.
I've rebuilt front differentials on Tundras, so I have a little knowledge getting into this, and already have the necessary measuring tools needed, so I think with enough patience and beer I'll get through this.
