Default Installed a Mishimoto fan shroud today...

Pretty much a straight forward install after you find the wiring instructions here by searching. The hardest part of the install was taking out the old fan shroud as I tore my hands all to hell trying to get it out. My harness I made with the old wiring turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Just wanted to share the project with everyone else and share some pics...

Here is the wiring instructions I used and it worked great!

1. Cut the ends of both wire leads long and short that connect directly to the stock fans.
2. Strip off the black heat jacket.
3. Take Blue wires from each harness and solder them to the Blue wire on fan 2.
4. Take Yellow wires from each harness and solder them to the Black wire on fan 2.
5. Take Green wires from each harness and solder them to the Blue wire on fan 1.
6. Take Black wires from each harness and solder them to the Black wire on fan 1.
7. Heat shrink all connections and then slide some sort of loom over them for protection.

EDIT: Fan #1 is the passenger side and fan #2 is the drivers side, fan #1 will come on first as it's in the direction of incoming hot antifreeze in the radiator, fan #2 comes on around 208* as a backup to fan #1 or when the a/c is turned on.

Wiring it up.

Thanks for the write up. I was on the other thread you started; having the same problem right down to the starting issue. How do you like the fans so far with install, quality, and function?

Everything works like oem did and when the second fan comes on it sounds like a damn jet! Engine stays cool and no issues at all. Fans seem to be of great quality as well...

They also have a lifetime warranty too.

Did you add weather stripping to the side to seal it better against the radiator. I did this on my Mizu and it helped a lot. your shroud seems to be about the same.

Yeah it came with the weather stripping in a roll. It's a really impressive fan setup and for those with more cooling needs the shroud provides room for improvement but for now this does well for a stock car.

My only issue is that Mishimoto really needs to make these plug and play because not everyone is knowledgeable in electronics and could fuq something up with fast with incorrect wiring.

Blue/Green = Positive??
Black/Yellow = Negative??

If so, why cant you wire the Blue/Green to the blue wire from Mishimoto Fan and then the Black/Yellow to the black of the Mishimoto Fan? Would that work? I wired it how you described but on my passenger fan turns on. It turns on when the A/C is on and when the car gets hot but the driver fan never turns on unless I remove the top fan relay. Any ideas? Im so lost...

If you wired it up following steps 3-6 it should work unless you have a relay out. It takes a long time for my 2nd fan to come on too...

Honestly I'd just go ahead and replace that relay you are taking out to get the fan to come on, sound's like it could be bad.

My second fan does not come on until 208 degrees.

If it gets over 90 degrees where you live I'd get better fans now. I had to get spals.

No fun pulling it out again.

Thanks for the reply. Im gonna go pick up a relay today. Hopefully thats the issue, last night I was switching the harnesses and no matter which way its hooked up only the passenger fan comes on. Both fans should come on when the A/C is on, right?

Thanks again!

The passenger side fan comes on when the a/c button is pushed, both fans will not run with the ac on unless the other fan is needed.

The other fan only comes on at 208 degrees as a helper fan.

Basically:
Start the car with a/c off = No fans
Start the car with a/c on = Passenger side fan on
Car running at idle and up to operating temps (190 something) = Passenger fan will cycle on and off to cool
Car running at idle and exceeding operating temps (Around 208) = Drivers side will turn on to assist the other fan

Anytime the a/c is turned on the passenger side fan will come on for the a/c condenser.

I think all of my info is correct.

I really appreciate all the info! I plugged everything back up and took it out for some spirited driving and just like you said the drivers fan finally came on!! I guess the temp never went high enough for it to engage.

On my way back from the spirited driving, my "CEL" came on. Bought an OBD-II reader for $90 and the code was "P0603" pretty much telling me the battery was disconnected for a long period of time. What a waste of 90 dollars, Oh well. Lol

Anyways, thanks for all the info and the wiring diagram!!! Works awesome, just like you said!
