8k? BP kit and you're set. All the stock block power you could want...

For 5k, if you really want 300+whp, keep an eye on the marketplace and snag a used supercharger. Have it rebuilt, keep the boost moderate (6-8psi), and enjoy. That'll get you over 300 for 5k.

Now, doing it NA is a different story. I also have an 03 (and love it), with most bolt ons minus headers. Got a tune at Z1 and baseline dyno was 247rwhp/235rwtq. After tuning I landed at 263rwhp/252rwtq. Overall, I'm very happy with it. I tracked it at Barber during Z Nationals last year and had a BLAST. Definitely didn't even take it to its full potential, and at times it was even borderline scary how fast I could take it into turns. With 37 more horsepower all I'd be able to do is say I had 300rwhp. No way I could take full advantage of all of it.

That point being said, I do intend to do some more work to it. Possibly a set of stage 1 heads and a mild cam to finish it out and be done in the power realm. Hopefully that'd land me around 275-285rwhp. Maybe more if I match it with headers and/or a kinetix manifold.

Just enjoy the car and it's upgrades in progressive steps. Jumping from stock to 300hp would be awesome, no doubt, but how long will that keep you satisfied is the question?

Best of luck

I will be satisfied when I beat a 2004 porsche 911 turbo. Idk if it will take 300whp or more, I'm just throwing that number out there for a goal but probably will need more and will have to focus on improving handling, transmission, and driver skill.

your mama so fat, an Eskimo tourist tried to harpoon her.
your mama so old, a starving lion refused to eat her beacause of the stench of rotten meat.
your mama so ugly, she beat out Chastity Bono for the ugliest woman title.
your mama so dumb, Lindsay Lohan makes fun of her.

ssqv for $75... i just quickly did a search on ebay for it and looked at the first like 5 posts and rounded up a few dollars.

about the 8k... bp turbo kit and some wheels/tires should fit there, especially if you buy used. might even get some springs/shocks to help the handling, too

go ahead and buy one of them, those are fakes, you might find a used one once in awhile but not for $75 lucky if $125 expect to pay retail for it on ebay if its real just like everything else.

There is 4k Pay someone 1500 to install. You are at 5500. Have 2500 for fuel/fuel management/tuning...but you obviously are not going to do it

Sell your Z because it isn't going to happen.

2004 911 turbo is "only" 415hp crank... probably about 350awhp, so with his original 300whp goal its not going to happen, but with an 8k budget, itd be pretty easy...

i did another search and noticed the prices of real ones were about 230-300, depending on the seller, but i also noticed walbro and deatschwerk fuel pumps were like 75-120 for a 255lph pump, so my math is still on the mark, luckily, lol

HP doesn't matter, a 911 is far superior to a Z from suspension to motor. It isn't going to happen power to weight ratio is different as well. So many factors that will make that Porsche walk the Z regardless of HP. He'd have a better chance with the basic I/H/E with a tune and then all suspension mods than with the same HP number.

So like said earlier in this thread spend your money on suspension and tires versus having the same HP.

I want to make a correction, he has a 2004 911 Carrera 4s Coupe (I thought it was the turbo the whole time) so the playing field is a little bit more even now. At the crank the 2004 911 Carrera 4s coupe puts out 315 and has 273lbs ft. of torque sent to all 4 wheels, a 0-60 time around 4.7 and a 1/4 time of 12.9. His car weighs 3240lbs. while i'm at 3197lbs. and we are almost dead even in torque but he has more horses. I don't think i'm going to spend the bulk of my money on engine mods because the two cars are in the same ballpark in power numbers but his car is better engineered. I just thought if I have brute force and power on my side i'll win so that's why I was strictly going to upgrade the engine before, I sound like a muscle car guy lol

having a budget or not, unless you have successfully done this, i urge you to please not reccomend it to someone else.. its a terrible idea, an innaccurate image of total costs involved for the OP, and great way to ruin someone elses bank account and car. A utec? 400 in piping that "might " need modification? lol... not sure if srs..
if anyone would like pics of what godspeed turbo kits w a faulty wastegate can do to this cars block, please ask and il gladly post them to the thread lol.

i havent searched the people on this thread's other posts, but the low post counts for a few make me think this is the blind leading the blind in some of these cases.. especially based on the advice.. im not being a dyk to those folks, i just dont want this guy (op) getting the wrong info.. its becomming an issue on the site lately... people on this forum loooove to dish what theyve never even done themselves.. so yeah.. OP do some reading and be wary of token advice you hear.. listen and then take the data and research it yourself to make the best move for you. Every single FI guy would have spent only 5k if thats all it took to make 400 whp etc..... we're not all Oil barons from UAE or dot com boomers that simply want the best stuff out there just to match our gold toilet seats lol.
... its just not a cheap game if its done right, and buying ARC catch cans is not what that means.

the folks stating your best bet is keeping the build NA are all giving you very solid advice from experience and are noting some time tested items. 290 whp on this car is a fantastic and dramatic difference in performance that you will absolutely love.. many 350z DE cars dyno all the way down near 225-235whp btw..

soapbox...out.
