Default Is it a good idea to bore only one cylinder?

My built motor bent a rod from oil starvation I was told. I would think the correct way to fix this would be to bore all cylinders. The shop would like to bore the one cylinder & use a custom piston. Not feeling this any thoughts?
Corrections
It seems like there was a misunderstanding with the shop. What they meant to say is that the piston that was damaged can’t be the same size when they replace it. The next size up is too big for the cylinders walls, so they will have to use custom pistons. So they are replacing all.

at a bare minimum you need to do an entire bank with a custom tune to compensate, altering the bore on just one cylinder is going to cause the afr on that cylinder to be off.

next i would find new people to work with since thats a bone head recommendation, doubly so because oil starvation dosnt cause bent rods it causes spun and destroyed bearings and bearing journals. bent rod means too much power for the rod, manufacturing defect, or a **** poor tune thats detonating. if its detonation then doing what they are suggesting is just going to make it worse.

That could cause the engine to blow again. Uneven compression, totally messed up detonation, more power in one cylinder causing stress on the connecting rod and on the crank.

+1 to what everyone is saying. Get your car out of there immediately. I'm also curious which shop you're dealing with.

If the other 5 cylinders, rods & pistons are found to be in perfect condition, it is perfectly acceptable for your machine shop to sleeve the damaged cylinder & rebore it to the same size as the others. You would then only need 1 piston & rod combo the same as the others.

By sleeving I don't mean a wet Datron sleeve but a thin sleeve that your shop can order in & machine to suit.

But as jerryd87 pointed out, the OP's shop gave a total BS reason why one rod bent. That doesn't inspire confidence that the shop would do what you suggest and bore that one cylinder to the same size as the others. Especially since the shop mentioned using a "custom" piston.

what part of bore 1 cylinder and use a custom piston do you not understand?

no sleeves were ever mentioned.

while your method sounds reasonable it is not the discussion or shops intent.

If the engine is being opened up why in the world would it be part of the discussion to 1/6th a$s it with a different sized piston?

If money is the issue you can get a complete bottom end for under 400 bucks and slap your parts on it.

If a mechanic suggested that to me after I was able to stop laughing, I'd have my car towed home for my 16 year old daughter to fix before I'd let them touch it.
