Default Replaced Belts, Quick Squeal on Cold Start

I recently had my two belts replaced and now on cold starts there is a quick squeal. Only lasts for a second then it goes away.

Anyone have an opinion on the cause?

A new belt will settle in to the pulley groves and wear in a bit causing some loss of tension. A momentary squeal on a cold start up is a sure confirmation of a loose belt. On a 350Z it’s always the larger alternator belt that squeals. Take it back for an adjustment, or better yet do it yourself.

There are some great DIY write-ups on tensioning the belts on this site. The spec for how tight to make the larger belt is a 4 to 5 mm deflection with a 22 lb pressure mid span between the pulleys.

When I helped my friend tension my car’s belt, I was the 22 lb pusher. What I did was push down on a bathroom scale to calibrate my thumb, and then applied the same push to the belt.

Thanks! I'm going to take it back to the dealership tomorrow so they can fix their mistake. What else is new.
