diff swap help

Default diff swap help

I have a 03 I want to swap out the vlsd with a welded open diff what otger years will work for the swap?

I might be buying an 03 this weekend with an open diff, would possibly be up for trades but would have to ship. I am in NY.

If I am not mistaken, any open diff from 03-08 will work. The pumpkins are all the same as long as you are swapping the whole pumpkin..

If you are just planning to swap the differential themselves you will have to get the correct stub axles.

Let me get this right. If I buy the whole pumpkin (VLSD) for my 08 base with open diff, everthing else is good? I thought I would also need axles for it to work.

Direct swap if you switch pumpkin for pumpkin.

I put an OEM 2007 G37 VLSD with 3.7 gears complete pumpkin into my 2003 350Z base with open diff. It was a direct swap.

Once you open up a base pumpkin and try to replace the open Diff with a vsld or lsd diff is when you have to change the stubs.

FYI ....I have a 2003 base 350z pumpkin (open) and a 2003 vlsd 350z pumpkin sitting in my garage if anyone wants to buy them. Both have around 35k miles.

You got it right buddy! I just did the swap on my 06 a few weeks ago. Pumpkin for pumpkin. Use this thread, its pretty straight forward just take your time!!! (ask me how I know..)

Also, for what it's worth, I used Amsoil gear oil in the "new" diff and the gas mileage went up...this will purely be preference however..
