Default VVT Solenoids usable after a catestrophic engine failure?

Would these be safe to use after I clean them after a catestrophic engine failure (broken crankshaft, etc). I had little bits of metal everywhere in my old engine. Is it possible to clean these out and use them again?

Awesome, thanks a ton. Really didn't want to add $300 onto my build.

^ yeah i had the same thing happen to my old engine. i didnt clean it out first, but was having some timing issues and someone suggested cleaning those out. its pretty straight forward, just remove 1 bolt and slide it out. just be careful with the little 'filters' on it
