I haven't heard anything about that motor going into the Z on any of the forums, etc.. If Nissan did do that, it would make the car a 400Z.

at my dealership we know something big is instore for the 05 z and we pretty much know its not going to be forced induction ,awd or a 2+2

so that almost leads me to believe more motor...

sense its going into the pfinder the most likely answer would be the 4.0 liter vq....

just what we are thinking in my dealership....

It took Nissan more than a decade to bump the Z up .5 liters. Making a bigger engine for a great selling sports car only two years into it's make would very odd.

I know the exterior won't drastically change for awhile. Whatever the "big" change is...It better be able to retrofit into our 04's and 03's.

I think, if there is a change, body wise, it may be like the 03 to 04 S2000, just a face lift, rear bumper, and so on. IF any power increase it would be minimal IMO. It is just to early for any major changes.

I agree, especially when the Z is one of their top sellers it has to be at least 3 years before the outside changes anything. You don't want to downplay the current Z's by giving the next Z too much of a facelift. Look at the 300zx and 300zxtt. The differences were very subtle and even that look spanned like what? six years??

how do you pretty much know that? i would suspect awd is a definite possibility. but also a new power trim seems like a decent possibility. i doubt they would change any exterior appearance (why would they).

we pretty much know because our techs arent being trained in any forced induction for the z or any awd training....takes alot of time for a dealership to have all of its techs sent to scool and certified to work on them...example....it took 10 months for all of our tech to be certified for the titan/armade......

not 10 months of school only 8 days...but you can only send a couple at a time....

i know its not a 2+2 cause nissan only want infinity to cary a 2+2 sports car

nissan isnt going to change the exterior of the car yet(not even a small little face lift)

something kinda big is being done and a facelift isnt big.....it only leaves 1 area and thats power....nissan likes to share power plants in its vehicles...its cheaper to build a vehicle when it shares parts with the other vehicles it its family.....and our guys have been sent through school for the new 4.0

i dont know.....but it is something big and its not f/i or awd

we will see soon enough

did anyone ever think that it could simply be a t-top or targa job for those who arent fans of a full convertable, or to appeal to those of us who are older Z model fans?

IF there is a change I would bet a big amount that it will be nothing more then some very minor body work, or MAYBE a T-Top.

There is no way they are going to add more power to this type of car so soon, just no way. (Unless its about 5 hp, like they did with acuras suv this year)

I believe Melissa is right. I have heard from sources in the know at my dealership that the 4 liter engine in the Armada, and the new Pathfinder will be appearing in all '05 Nissans.
That will definitely position the Zcar to stay competitive with the new Mustang GT,new Supra, et al. I would imagine that 350 bhp would be easily attainable in a naturally aspirated engine.

I would bet money that they dont do this just because it would upset a large clientell. Nissan knows that it has loyal customers, thats why the 350 sold so well as soon as it came out, but these loyal customers would feel taken advantage of if the 350 was dropped after just 2 years.

I agree with Kas-Z. There are just too many people who have invested their time and money into the 350Z. Nissan would be making a big mistake by ditching the 350Z and making it a 400Z so early on . Also, it is very very unusual for a car to have such a short life cycle, only 3 years.

Why is everybody saying that Z is selling so good? I can imagine it's the less selling car out of Nissan line. Anybody got any hard data on 2003?

I for one would definitely consider trading up for the Zcar with a 4 liter engine. Maybe Nissan would give us an added break/monetary incentive for trading up.
Yeah, when pigs fly. LOL

Problem with the 4L engine is rpm. It wont rev as high due to the longer stroke. Wont be as good for a sportscar with close gear ratios.
