Wow. Those headers look like a nice piece. Any informations? Price? Dynos? Is that the new one that Stillen just released?

The CATS are from lsdunique and the headers are with help of a friend ordered from Stillen. I won't be able to dyno this combo until late March, because it's snowing like hell over my place.

Man I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but..

For the money these things cost, you'd think they'd have better welds. Those welds look pretty awful.

Compare it to this:

That's the collector for the exhaust system on my bike. No mandrel bends to screw up pipe diameter and cause flow inconsistencies (the inside is as clean as the outside), incredibly clean welds and craftsmanship.

I wish car stuff was of similar quality. Most of the stuff I see just has sloppy construction.

eh? Who cares as long as the welds are strong and there are no holes. After you install the parts you are never going to see those 'horrible' welds again!

I have the Borla TD without the other mods and it sounds exactly like your sound clip.

Funny, I thought HF cats and headers would drasticallyy change the sound!

You can see the exhaust on a bike but you cannot on a car. Who cares if welds on car headers are raised 2 mm? Not me.

I agree 100% with Joust75 It sounds no different than my car....It may be faster that I don't know ... But sound is the same.

Nismo CAI, Borla TD....everything else stock.

Don't welds like that obstruct the flow? I mean inside the pipe...

How do the cats fit? Have they fixed the earlier rub issues?

Actually it is hand welded.

Believe it or not, "pretty" welds aren't just "pretty"; they're better. They're stronger, less likly to crack and also incidentily, when done correctly, cause the least amount of heat damage and distortion to the metal.

Trust me my post wasn't about cosmetics.

Well yeah, you can see some exhausts, but you can't see that. That's the collecter that's underneath the engine.

Like I said before, it's not about cosmetics. Better welds are just better all around; less prone to cracking or coming apart, less damage to the material, etc. Toothpaste welds (what I call blobby welds like those) are very prone to cracking and greatly overheat the material (look at the discoloration around the welds on the cats; there should be some but not that much).

The headers aren't nearly as bad as the cats though.

I'm not trying to knock the guy, trust me. I'm happy he got some stuff in his car and he likes it.

It's just something that's bothered me from day one about some stuff out there for cars, that's all.

Those are certainly beautiful welds, but I disagree with your take on mandrel-bent tubing. Perhaps you're confusing it with conventional tube bending, which produces the necked-down, "rippled" inner bend. Mandrel bending produces a smooth-surfaced, consistent cross-section bend, which will actually flow better than the faceted design made out of straight sections that you showed.

Don't have cats (yet) but I do have those headers with the matching exhaust. No dyno, but sounds and feels great - very smooth, fast RPM climb. Combined with the Crawford plenum and JWT Pop Charger, the car really kicks (especially above the 4k mark).

As for those welds, yeah they are pretty - but mandrel bent will always win - less edging/ripples, smoother flow. BTW, looks like you are running a V-twin from the way those are bent...from the site inset I'm guessing either Aprilia or Ducati, am I right?

Honda RC51.

Mandrel bending actually does decrease the inner diameter of the tubing. Take a close look and you'll see.
