As for the OP, an old Bhuddist teaching suggests we "contemplate the vase already broken".
Look in the FSM, RFD-14. It has what are called Side Gears, Pinion Mate Shaft, and Pinion Mate Shaft Gears inside. So you technically can break a gear inside, but it would be a big fluke and about 99.9% chance it's a factory defect.

Ok maybe theyre called something different, im just talking about the parts that allow both wheels to spin at different speeds. And i had the new pumpkin put on last year with a rear end oil change. So unless, it leaked, theres has to be another issue. Maybe it was just a bad part. Ill get another vlsd and try that i guess.

Thats kind of what i was thinking. I notice my car bounces a lot when trying to get traction on a hard take off. When i got the vlsd, i figured itd resolve the problem. Anyone else notice this about their cars?

Is your car bouncing or are you getting wheel hop? If you're getting wheel hop then solid diff mounts will fix you up. If your clutch is working then you either broke something in the diff or an axel, but I'm pretty sure if your axel was broke you'd know it, Drop the diff cover and see what's laying in the bottom. If you're getting excessive wheel hop and you're 'staying in it' you can break all sorts of stuff. Then remove VLSD crap and replace with something good and fix what the pieces in the bottom of the diff are from. I'm a current user, and a fan of the NISMO GT LSD, but everyone has there own favorite.

I'm not defending dmill but common guys don't act like you've never done a burn out on a public road in your Z at least once...

I have NEVER attempted or performed a burnout in 2+ years of owning my Z, and dont plan on it...

no cuz i dont drive like an asshat on surface streets, I save that for the track where my Z can actually perform.

OP, your car broke itself because it realized your a dumbass. We can correct that though, The VLSD is garbage compared to an aftermarket unit, such as Quaife or OS Giken, the problems your having can be fixed by installing one of these, the solid diff mounts would only be a quick fix.

It's pretty juvenile.

It's the wheel hop from the burnouts. When a car gets older the bushings wear out. The abrupt force from dropping the clutch pushes the wheels out of alignment, and thus the rapid slip and grip is the "bounce" you are experiencing (someone correct me if I am wrong). I think someone already mentioned that diff bushings help. Usually when people drag their car the axles snap first. Breaking the diff means you are doing something wrong.

wrong, tried to find a pic to show you but all the pics are of sealed diff's online, so go look at the service manual, there is still spider gears in the diff, heck even clutch type use it, the only thing that dosnt is helical gear type lsd's(and even they sort of do just not in a traditional configuration) or spools. its impossible to bias torque or allow different speeds from the axles without some sort of spider gear device.

edit: this isnt a 350z diff but our viscous and every single other viscous diff on the planet works like this though. its why the viscous unit uses a longer axle shaft on one side.

Ok, thanks. Ill look into the solid diff mounts and take it easy for a while. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

If anybody else wants a reason to mouth me, i also did 155mph on a public highway . Now if we can stop talking about me being "dumb" cause I know I do stupid ****, id appreciate it. Im young and like to drive hard. So do all my buddies. Im sure you guys did dumb stuff when you were teenagers as well. My dad also taught me to drift, blame him. He races though. Haha. So now, lets talk about useful info and safety features i can get to keep this from happening again. Thanks!

Theres a difference between being a **** driver and occasionally driving like a bat out of hell, that i do on country highways where you cant see cars for miles. And my additude was sarcasm. And i dont know it all. Not even close, thats why i asked about this failing and what i could do to fix the problem. But immature people had to run theyre smart *** mouths about me doing a burn out. Like who cares? I did it, it broke, its done. All I want is a simple ****ing answer that i didnt get until 30 replies later after everyones ignorant comments blew up the thread. Im a Purdue aerospace Engineering student... Dont really need people tell me im a "dumbass" when half of them dont know what theyre talking about.

But you cant figure out a simple VLSD problem? LOLz

And JerryD is right, your an asshat, and I really dont think that was sarcasm, how about you get a job, get off public roads, and go with your dad to the racetrack and race there. Thats all we are saying. If you dont like our approach, buy a damn Prius, otherwise dont get butthurt when you tell people about the dumbshit that you do, and then get flamed for it, I swear kids these days cry over a ****ing paper cut.
