Default Changing Gear Ratio

I got advise from a friend that changing the gear ration in the rear end would give me more acceleration without messing with the engine in the long run. I'm looking for an alternative to a chip or a turbo.

Changing the gear ration in the rear end, what advantages does it have?

More torque than any other mod. Look around. It's been done a lot.

You can also change the gear ratio by changing the transmission gears with the OS Giken gears set. But they are $$$$.
