370 motor in a 350?
Has anyone tried or know of someone who tried dropping a 370 motor into a 350? How different are the housings of the two? Is it even possible? Was talking to my buddy about it and got me wondering. I haven't read up on 370s much. Just curious.

It's a direct swap. Sub frame, harness, mounts, and even the transmission all hook up perfectly. The only thing you will need is a Nissan code translator which can be found at http://bit.ly/130jm5U.

That's awesome. Gives me idea for my tax return either this year or next haha. is the performance the same if that is done or is the 370 lighter than the 350? the 370 looks slimmer from what I can tell.

Let's start that answer over again: while it's possible mechanically to switch components, the electronic architecture of the VQ37VHR is quite different from that found in a Z33. Even with a Nissan master tech working on such a swap, there are sure to be CELs and drivability issues for a street-driven Z. This would be no ordinary DIY project.
Now, if you're building a racecar, or some other off-road project, that's a different story...

Well I figure I can just keep my paid-for 350, take about $8000 and have a 370 motor, as opposed to going out and dropping $25000 on a 370. But it definitely would be easier to do that. But the coding and electronics would be the hard part as previously stated.

Ya I was being VERY generous with $8000. But since it would be my first engine replacement, I was calculating professional labor too. Saw an '09 complete assembly for $2000 on eBay, but I wouldn't trust anything I didn't see taken out myself, or at least have a master tech go over to make sure all the components were there.

Sounds like an excellent project. Too bad I don't know anybody that owns scrapyard, junkyard, or anybody place that brings in wrecked vehicles. (Some people are junk lucky) Just gave me some ideas of my own to ponder on now.
