Default Which Transmission in my Z?

I've been looking for info everywhere and can't find any..

I want to know if you guys can tell me which is stock in my 2004 z. Looked for the info but some people on forums say CD008 and some say CD009.

Where could I find the number on the transmission?

Google Image search would also have pics of where the numbers are located.

You can put the CD009 tranny in your car, in fact it may be wise to. As it fixed the 3rd & 5th gear syncro problem many of us have

CD009 is stock for 2007-08, I'm not sure about 2006.

From what I've seen with my searching auto salvages they're in 2006. Pricing is averaging 1k for the area as well.

I've also not had a problem with mine ('04) with 120k miles. With close to half of those being abuse from prior owner. Luck maybe?

Okay yeah I guess I was right about 2006.

Yeah I really never have noticed an issue and never beat on it. My Z is only at 47k, I'm just very cautious because of the previous owner I have no idea how it was driven. I read too much into things. I mean I guess if it was that bad Nissan would have done a recall.

My clutch is very strong and so is the tranny from what I can tell. Although I do have that clutch chatter but it's annoying more then anything.

My daily driver has had grinding synchros for over 75k and the tranny and clutch are still good. I just don't downshift into certain gears.

That's the only thing nice about being up here is my mileage will stop climbing so rapidly. When it's nice weather 99.9% of the year in AZ, miles add up quickly.

Yeah I wish I was in California or somewhere then I wouldnt have to live in winter or store my Z lol.

Winter here sucks and I can't imagine driving the z in it, especially with all of the salt they use.

Yep I wish I just got a wrx but can't go in the past. Blah I'm at the point where I want to trade it in. It's a hassle having two cars and not fun to let the z sit during winter.

^saw it on your site. No offense, but I would sell my Z before I had to replace the transmission. Plus I only put on 5,000 miles a year.

Depends on your intentions for the car. I just had Z1 swap my transmission for a brand new CD009 along with their mild performance clutch/flywheel kit. In the long run, it would be way more beneficial to just pay to have the transmission replaced than sell and buy something else. The transmission I put in will easily be paying for itself. I had the internal battle of possibly just upgrading to an 08 to get the HR and the CD009, but decided to fix my DE. I prefer to have money for mods or other things in my life in general instead of a stupid high car payment.

True. My intentions are just to have it and drive in the summer. I put very little miles on it, so putting a new or used transmission in and having it cost anything over $1,000-2,500 isnt feasible. I'd rather trade my Z in and have a car to drive all year round. I'm not going to do any mods to my Z, I like how it is stock.

I live in a place where winter is very bad and it's common to get a foot or two of snow over night. They also use salt on the roads which eats up the underbody and metal on the car.

I've been debating on getting rid of my z, for that fact. I simply don't drive it much as it's become more of a "toy" than a way of transportation.

You should get rid of your Z. By your comments you had no idea what platform you were getting in. Buy a civic think it will suite you better. Arigato
