tach wire for converter
There's no tach wire anywhere in the car. It's encoded digitally on the CAN bus.
The closest alternative is an injector lead but your device must be able to multiply the signal.

injector wire wouldnt need anything since its 12v(although the ecu triggers ground). would need to know what the converter looks for 12v or 5v, if 5v you wire it to a coil, if 12v need something to bump up the coil voltage. dont add it to a injector because you will fry the injector driver in the ecu, they arnt made to handle the extra resistance.
should have honestly just went with a speed hut tach
edit: looking at the wiring diagram its not going to work because the vq coils arnt triggered off of ground they are triggered of 5v power, ground will be constant because both the ignitor and coil itself are wired to the same ground.

there has to be a wire that goes to the gauge its self. something feeds it to tell gauge to move? I don't have a vq any more so I don't need that side of the tach just need wire that comes off the cluster its self
There isn't one. It's tied into the 2-wire CAN bus. There's two wires that drive almost the entire cluster as well as other stuff like lights and door locks.

As far as I am aware only 2 shops have managed to get this to work. Diebold Autosport and CiN Motorsports and its myself and CMyTailsBlink that have this done for our swaps. You are getting correct advice though, there is no tach signal wire, it goes through the CANBUS behind the AC controls.
Most people fab the speedhut tach into the stock cluster. I would have done the same had I not had custom LEDs installed already and didn't want to lose them. Making the stock tach work isn't cheap.
