LS/Z wiring and turbo
#21
I'm not getting my panties in a bunch by coming to you guys with issues, especially electrical stuff. If you re-read what I wrote I mentioned that I know nothing of electronics and how they all work. My original motive was to determine, if its possible to retain the 350 ECU that runs the body and accessories and use the LS ecu tied into it. I figured enough people have done this that there might be a wiring solution or someones personal experience might prove to be more fruitful than my confused endeavors. More pics will obviously come as I get more done. I am waiting for the sikky swap kit to arrive and if I'm lucky, I'd like to actually get the engine+tranny in myself. I did find a few pictures of turbo'd 350zs and build threads on LS1tech.com, but they are used on drag strips. Straight line racing is for people with no sense of excitement.

Just use the LS PCM and harness. You'll probably have to either get the OEM GM harness modified to work or get a custom one made. I used Speed Scene Wiring http://www.speedscenewiring.com/ .
I won't say that they did the best job but at least it worked compared to some of the other vendors that claim they can do it. Plus they have good customer support. You will however, need to still wire in a couple relays and fuse blocks but it's pretty easy.

As far as turbo options go, everyone currently has basically one off custom setups. There is tons of room up top to go with a top mounted SC system though (Maggie, Whipple, Edelbrock), you just have to be careful when pinning the crank since space near the crank pulley is real tight.
Hope that helps a bit
