Default **DIY request** Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder Rebuild

I've been suffering from a sticking clutch in hot weather and being in stop and go traffic for 20-30 minutes.

I performed a brake fluid replacement and bleed. This worked for a month or so, but with the recent heat wave in LA, the clutch pedal has begun to stick and feel spongy.

I feel the fluid change and flush is MASKING a bigger issue. I'm looking into performing a rebuild of the Clutch Master and Slave cylinder.

**DIY request** Does anyone have a detailed instructions on perform the rebuilds? (ex. removing the pistons, what's used and how to clean the metal housing, rebuild kit install etc) Thanks in advance.

Its pretty straight forward. Clean bores out. Make sure theres no pitting. Replace with new piston which comes greased. I just used brake cleaner to clean the housings.

HR or DE? if HR get the zspeed kit, the OEM throwout bearing is plastic and crap.

Its beneficial to replace the hydraulic system when dealing with the HR, in case any debris is stuck in the lines, you don't want it hindering the performance of the new slave. Zspeed has a total replacement kit, which includes, Wilwood Master, stainless lines, and the HD slave. I'm getting this package in a few months, as my slave just went out.

Thanks everyone for all the input.

For completeness, the car is a 2005 G35 DE Rev-up. I ended up purchasing new OEM Master and Slave Cylinders. Once replaced, I can then inspect and clean the old cylinders. I will then install a the rebuild kits so there're ready for duty when the new ones eventually go out.

Yup, pretty much if you have the skills to remove the master and slave, you have the skills to rebuild them.

Reminds me, I need to rebuild mine. They are not a problem, but I want to for peace of mind.
