Hi-Compression and F/I, I see no issues in that.

if you keep 350ish to the wheels and a rich tune to keep it there it will last a lot longer

Of course those are both so slow in stock form... Now at 5-6 psi forget about it!

How much money you think you could make off of one of those rich people? Do you actually make money racing? I only ask because that's such a pipe dream for most people, and never actually met someone who does haha...

Maybe it's more common in the drag scene where I don't go often.

I've run my fair share of cash grudge races on the highways but for the most part its more for bragging rights. Some events and most all drag events have cash purses. I raced a bit in the 13 second bracket with a sub 10 second car, the reason being was my car isn't set up for drag racing, I don't have drag slicks, so hooking up was a big issue. Also if you talked **** in the pit for roll races chances are they'd see your 13 sec bracket and bait you with cash. In street roll racing a much more important number is the 60-100 accel, most races are 40-140 and your 3rd and 4th gear plays such a large role. This explains a lot why people go to 3.3 FD because you never shift into 5th in this type of run with that fd.

MI your comments have been on fire the last few post I have read!! Great info man.

I have been toying with the idea of grabing a haltech change the exhaust(mtm headers and single exit) on my momentum and have it Re-tuned to hold me over. I am planing the build now. I like the goals of times etc as to numbers. My goal has went from eclipsing 600(I have the momentum) to a realiable track car. It would be fun to pull/hang with some rich folk down in Naples hahaha.

Again great advice MI.

Ya. He sure has been helpful and not a jackass like some others. Well respected from me. Your Z been running OK nach? I've been itching more power for over a year now. Not sure weather to build the Vq or do something else like 2JZ when the time comes but want to be somewhat prepped to swap it quickly. Not doing LS.

I'm sure I can just slap that on in, hit high boost, and make 600+.....I wish. I'm sure since the 5.9s are an easy 5-6k those won't be cheap either. Then the cost to fab into Z..

The goals of the car changed significantly over those periods. But yes as a track car 450whp and 3.9 was just incredible, the acceleration and consistent pull is crazy. 1st gear is really useless but damn it is fun. If I ever wanted to build a drift car I'd do 4.1FD and 400 hp boosted Vq, It keeps the built motor from being pushed to a limit and has such a dramatic effect on its ability to break the tires.

Now though, 3rd and 4th gear acceleration is much more important. That high end raw pull that lots of boost gives you is addicting and I find myself going to runway events, zdayz, and street runs more than anything. Its how I like to spend my time as an enthusiast. I just don't have enough time anymore to go on track weekends with my work and thats ok. Sometime Ill build another track car and have fun when it gets there but in the mean time I have a car that will be fun for me in any course and really pull hard up top.

My car is running perfect.(knock on wood). I am in the same boat as you. I was scrapping the vq for an LS about a month ago. Then said for what to myself. I like the 2jz swap idea. But with the turbo components on the car. I am half way there(more like a 1/4). I am planning for Zdayz to have a haltech tuned momentum kit with the headers and an free(er) flowing exhaust then the fuji. Turn it up and see what she can handle safely. I don't want to rush a 10k+ build in 3months for ZdayZ. I am want to start tracking the car Autox and road course.

MI are you going to ZdayZ?

You are so close in Greenville. Its worth the trip for sure. Although I think the village is almost completely sold out I bet some people still have spare rooms they'd sell.

I really want to refinish the body of my car, it needs paint and a new front bumper and side skirts, way too much track damage.
