Question Engine wiring harness/Cam Sensors

Hello, I have a 2004 350z that I currently have at dealership due to cam shaft sensors throwing codes (bank 1). Dealership called this morning and said the wiring for bank 1 is butchered and said i will need to buy a new engine harness to fix the problem. (labor and parts $2300!!)

I know this has been a common issue with 350z's on here and wondering if anyone had the same situation and could give me feed back as to which way to go before forking over that ridiculous amount to the dealership. Thank you.

UM they sell them on ebay for a couple hundred. Also, define what the dealer meant by "butchered"?

Swapping the harness is not THAT big of a deal to do at home...so yeah

Ask them to SHOW you where it is butchered. The Wire harness is one, giant harness that conntects just about everything (Nissan's way of saying "screw you" again just like we can't get OEM wheel bearings without gettign the whole assembly). But ask them to show you where and you can do a simple wire patch job if you feel comfortable with any re-wiring. Or have someone do it for you. The entire harness IS expensive (even on eBay) for what it actually is. Had a patch done on a few connectors of mine after hitting a deer and all is well 2 years later.

Thank you for both of your feed backs. I had a small mom and pop shop try to do some re wiring on it and the dealership as well, both can not figure it out and say the connector is not strong enough, the only place on the harness that it is "butchered" is on the Cam Bank 1 sensor which I had replaced but unless they are holding it some how (bull**** tech told me over the phone) the vehicle will run for a little bit than die, saying its from a shortage in the wiring...Confused and don't know how to do that type of car work
