Default Signs of Spark Plug O-Rings Failing

So I looked at my driver side valve cover, and there is a good ammount of oil by the seam. I realize that the valve cover gaskets will need to be replaced. I have read up that the plugs' o rings tend to fail also. Short of pulling the plenum and getting in there and looking at the threads on the plugs, are there any other signs that could tell me oil is getting in there. I would rather avoid buying new valve covers if I can for sure know that the spark plug o rings are ok

You don't have to pull the plenum. Just pull the rearmost coil packs out. If there is oil on the boot your valve covers are leaking.

It's still a pain, but the plenum can stay on.
