Default Sourcing a new engine

I've been looking at LKQ as the place to get a new engine for my 2003 MT. Going through their inventory, there are different engine dates (e.g. thru 09/2003, thru 10/2004, from 11/2004), but does anyone know if it matters as long as it's before 10/2004 since I assume from 11/2004 is the uprev DE engine?

Also, can a previously AT engine be used in my MT?

Well I have an 04 G35 6MT that has a new'ish motor from a AT 03 350Z. As long as you don't get a revup motor you'll be fine.

Check the build date of the car to be sure, it's on the driver's door.

From what I've found so far the used DE engines (and you have to be careful because some are just the core, some are long block, and some are full assembly) range from 1000 to 2000 depending on miles.

Ask if they have compression test results and walk if they don't. Even though they will say that they have a warranty on parts, they will not reimburse for labor. So let's say you buy a motor with no comp test for 1500, have someone with heavy lifiting equipment swap it for 1000, and upon install find it has a busted cylinder; you'll end up getting your 1500 back on the motor, but you're out the 1000 on labor to your mechanic.

The RevUp motor came only in the '05 6MT Anniversary and the '06 6MT (any trim).
