Default Immobilizer malfunctioning??

Ok guys my Z sometimes I supposes does not pick up my keys and the car will act normal as if it were going to start and once I switch it to the ON position the car just clicks once and dies. They only way I am able to get the car running is to disconnect the Neg battery cable and let the ECU reset. Has any1 had any similar problems with this and any idea's?? Some times the car starts up just fine it is just at random times when I cannot start the car. Key Fob is also working properly. I will have to take my 05 350z to the dealer on Friday to check it out for sure but if any1 has any idea please let me know. Thanks.

The only thing the immobilizer (NATS) does is keeps the fuel shut off. The car will crank like crazy with no fuel going to it when it does not read the key. Also if it does not read the key when it is cranking, the red light on the dashboard up against the window will light up indicating no key read.

It sounds like to me that you have a different problem with the starting system.

I am going to try to get some new keys made and see if that solves my problem. Possibly the chip in the key is going bad. Ill try my keys and see how it goes.

Doesn't sound like a problem with the keys. They will probably charge you less money to diagnose the starting problem than the $100-$150 to program a key. Tell them what is wrong when you go in. Don't just show up and ask for a new key! Good luck.

Yea dude ur wasting ur time. Ntis would still let u crank ur having an electrical issue. Check to see if there is corrosion on ur terminals, if there is clean it. Make sure the connections r tight, check ur battery, auto zone and advanced do it for free and check ur alternator after that cause ur battery is probably dead. Now u gotta fond the culprit.

I'll try to check all my connections before I do anything major. Bought the keys for $20 so it didn't hurt and my nissan dealer chargers 65 for the program and cut. Idk it is weird I got in the car for the past 2 days no probs. I'll still change my keys just to have a new pair switchblade type. But anyone have any similar probs?? And when I believe the key isn't reconized my red light stays on. And the car only and I mean only cranks once as in one click then it's dead. I'll check my negative battery cable as it is exposed just a little bit. That could be the prob. Any1 have any links to removal of the battery cables. I'm at work but will look it up after I get home later tonight.
