Hi all. I have a 2003 z that the motor has gone belly up on.

I am looking at a 2004 motor that a guy has had sitting in his garage since 05. I am wondering if I can put a 2004 motor in a 2003 car?

I'm going to check the motor out in a few days, is there anything I should look for before i buy it?

Yes, it should be the same VQ35DE nonRevup engine.
