Default 1st time changing spark plugs

This is my first time changing my spark plugs and wires on my z since I bought her. I'm going to go pick then up at autozone tomorrow morning, but I wanna know what you all think I should buy. I just want some decent ones, not expensive, but not cheap. Thanks

You don't mention which motor (VQ35DE or VQ35HR) is in your Z, but the answer is clear: NGK Irridiums. This is the OEM plug and is the best overall choice.

I'm sorry. I have the DE motor. So, the oem plugs and wires would be my best bet?

That's right- do a little searching and you'll find a DIY on here to study and the right NGK plug # too. BTW- unless you have a problem with the plug wires, I wouldn't replace them. My '03 does quite nicely with the OEM plug wires it was born with (knocks on wood).

OEM NGK lazer platinum, and if you can figure out how to change wires, more power to you.

OP,

Can you document the procedures for replacing the spark plug wires on the VQ35DE?

OP,

Just in case you haven't noticed, we got coil on plugs. No wires to worry about. Don't be led astray by funny guys.

Of course there are wires. It's just that our VQs use a coil for each spark plug. Unless there's a problem for each coil pack, there's no need to replace them or the wires that lead to them. Read the DIY on spark plug changes and it will become clear.

There are no spark plug wires. Nothing to replace there. Just replace the plugs. The diy is a great resource.

Your biggest obstacle is going to be getting them out without galling any threads. If any one of them feels tight coming out then chances are you'll have a small amount of aluminum stuck to the bottom threads.....Aside from removing the head there's nothing you can do except get it out slowly and cautiously with plenty of wd-40. Then use a thread chaser to clean up the threads.
