Do A/T differentials work on M/T differentials?

Default Do A/T differentials work on M/T differentials?

I bought a base model 350z with a manual transmission and I wanna know if I can put an automatic transmission differential on it with no problems . this is my first 350z and its my second car

why would you do that? you can swap the whole pumpkin no problem but you'd be slower...

Carlex the differential unit will bolt right in, however the gear ratio is different for the automatic cars (3.3 for the autos and 3.5 for the manuals) An auto diff will kill the acceleration in your 6-speed car.

Not if you strap on two turbos....



OP i did the swap for my 6mt to the 5mt 3.3FD. If you plan to stay NA it may kill your acceleration but you will get better MPG which is what a sports car is meant for.

You could make it a welded diff, but I wouldn't lol

I would think this would require a rebuild since the AT diff is larger.

Just wait until you find a OEM VLSD from a 6-speed. That's what I did.
