Default $3k of Mods, What Would You Get

Hi All,

I am brand new to the forum, but not new to my 2007 350z. I have been browsing all over the forums(which are great btw) and have found a ton of options out there
-Tune
-Intake
-Exhaust/headers
-Turbo Kits etc.

So here is the golden question- The boss... er... Wife, has given me a budget of no more than 3 grand.
What combination of mods would you recommend to fit that budget for power additions (I am satisfied with handling) WITHOUT compromising reliability. Love the car to death, have 90k miles on her and she does my daily driving duties. So, 3k out the door, labor included (don't feel like wrenching it myself), what are the thoughts from the pro's??

Thank you in advance for the guidance!

Tune.

Your car can have all the bolt-on, NA mods money can buy, but it won't perform without a tune.

I would go suspension ie coilover, sway and camber kits. I wouldn't do headers with NA. Cat back exhaust. Very light wheels like an Enkei.

4.08 gears, LSD, test pipes, k&n filters, and a tune. N/A mods on a HR don't give you much hp/$.

If you want power gains, nothing beats turbo. Unfortunately that route is not viable with your 3k budget. Your next best option is most likely bolt ons. So intake, exhaust, test pipes and headers, then a tune to wrap it all up. Remember though, bolt ons don't do much on an NA car so don't expect too much gains. The tune is mainly to adjust your ECU so you won't run lean.

Just my $0.02

Coilovers ~ $1200
Various suspension arms ~ $500 - $1000
Tires ~ $1000 (unless you are open diff, then get an LSD)

Suspension first, then drive-train parts, then power.

Looks like Syner and noobs are holding down the fort politely.

What I see is good advice, OP. Welcome.

The only significant power addition is a rear diff gear change in that budget. The rest is useless. Quaife + gears. Done. That will use up about $2k installed btw.

Why k&n? Apexi flows, seals and filters better for half the price.

Op, why not some reliability mods? Radiator, test pipes, tune and fluidampr would be my choice.

Since not enuff for actual power I'd do wheels, tires and coil overs. Or a really badass exhaust. The sound of a car is just as important as looks IMHO!

I'd say buy NICE used wheels and then coilovers (perhaps springs if budget doesnt allow for them) but from your list intake,Injen SES exhaust (best sounding IMO), hfcs, and a tune. I did 4.08 gears and have to say they are a waste as I can't feel any difference in acceleration, just more shifting.

Rear diff and light weight wheels on fat tires.
